Who knew a fork could hold so much?
ForkitDesign started in a Berlin basement in 2009. The winter I moved away was also the coldest winter that Berlin, Germany had seen in 40 years, with less than 1 day of direct sunlight from Dec-March. It was HARD. But my collection of charms, reclaimed jewellery from the local markets and of course my beautiful, bright and sensual collection of scrap leathers gleaned from the bins at Global Leathers kept with me throughout my travels, kept me afloat. That and the fresh bouquet of juicy tulips that were placed every morning on the kitchen table which were the first things I saw upon coming upstairs to the main house.
Over the last decade ForkitDesign has developed into more refined, capsule collections, all the while staying true to the concept at heart, which is beautiful, delicate, handmade body ornaments made predominantly from rescued scrap leather.
In addition to body ornaments, ForkitDesign has branched out into small batch clothing as well, highlighting comfort and movability.
Throughout her time in Berlin, SK Forkit worked designing and styling costumes for music videos for Twisted Reel Productions and since moving back to her home town of Richmond VA in 2021, Forkit has added costuming and tailoring on TV productions to her repertoire as well.
She worked as the BG costumer on Richmond’s very own, The Walking Dead, World Beyond, Season 2 (AMC) in 2021. She worked as the head tailor on The National Treasure remake as a series, filmed in Baton Rouge, (Disney) 2022, and again worked as a tailor and costumer on Richmond’s Swagger, season 2, (Apple +) 2022.
As of spring, 2023 she has secured a job as the tailor at Virginia’s prestigious mens clothing company, Beecroft and Bull.
